Orange Cove City Council Members Announce Their Support of Bob Whalen for Assembly

Tuesday, October 13, 2009

(Clovis) – Today, Orange Cove City Council Members Glenda Hill, Esther Gonzalez, and Gilbert Garcia announced their support for Republican Clovis City Councilmember Bob Whalen in his pursuit of the open seat in the 29th Assembly District – adding their names to the dozens of local Republican elected officials supporting Whalen.

“Water is a huge issue right now, and that’s why we need Bob Whalen fighting for us in Sacramento to ensure we have water for our area farms and for our homes,” said Mayor Pro-Tem Glenda Hill.

“Bob Whalen will fight for a comprehensive water plan that upgrades storage and water delivery and makes certain the Central Valley’s water needs are met,” added Councilmember Garcia.

Clovis City Councilman and Fresno County Deputy District Attorney Bob Whalen has earned a reputation as a ‘friend of the taxpayer’ and a champion for small business growth. He has been endorsed by dozens of local elected officials in his campaign for the open 29th Assembly District.

In March 2009, Bob Whalen was the lone councilman who advocated the defeat of Measure A, which would have raised local taxes.
