Fresno Sheriff Margaret Mims Announces Support for Bob Whalen’s Assembly Run
Tuesday, August 11, 2009
Coming on the heels of last week’s announcement of support by 3-Strikes advocate Mike Reynolds, today 29th Assembly District candidate Bob Whalen picked up another major public safety endorsement – that of popular Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims. “I’m proud to support Deputy District Attorney Bob Whalen for the twenty-ninth Assembly District,” said Sheriff Mims. “Bob has been working to put hardened criminals behind bars, and I’m certain he’ll be a staunch advocate against any early release programs that are being considered by the legislature. Law enforcement needs Bob Whalen fighting for us in Sacramento.” Sheriff Mims joins a growing list of supporters for Bob Whalen, including Mike Reynolds, Fresno County Supervisor Judy Case and dozens of others. “Sheriff Mims is well respected in the community and her support for Whalen further boosts his front-runner status for this open seat,” said Whalen spokesman Tim Clark. Clovis City Councilman and Fresno County Deputy District Attorney Bob Whalen has earned a reputation as a ‘tough on crime’ advocate and ‘friend of the taxpayer’ who has been a champion for small business growth.
