Fresno County Supervisors Stan Oken and Doug Vagim Endorse Bob Whalen

Tuesday, December 01, 2009

(Clovis) – Today, former Fresno County Supervisors Stan Oken and Doug Vagim added their names to the long list of supporters for Bob Whalen for the open 29th Assembly District.

“Bob Whalen’s steadfast opposition to higher taxes is exactly what we need in Sacramento right now,” said former Supervisor Vagim.  “I trust Bob Whalen to fight against the Sacramento liberals’ tax-and-spend agenda, and that’s why I am glad to support him for Assembly.”

“Bob Whalen is also committed to keeping hardened criminals behind bars, which means he’ll oppose the Sacramento schemes to give criminals an early release,” added former Supervisor Oken.  “That’s the type of common sense I want in a legislator, and that’s why I support Bob Whalen.”

Stan Oken was first elected to the Fresno County Board of Supervisors in 1991, where he served for nine years.  Doug Vagim served as a Fresno County Supervisor from 1989 to 1997.

Clovis City Councilman and Fresno County Deputy District Attorney Bob Whalen has earned a reputation as a “tough on crime” advocate and “friend of the taxpayer” who has been a champion for small business growth.  Whalen is largely considered the front-runner for the Republican nomination in the 29th Assembly Seat.
